This page explains how to permanently delete your MoneyWise account and what happens to your data.
Two ways to request account deletion
Option 1 — Delete from inside the app (recommended)
- Open MoneyWise on your phone.
- Tap the Profile tab (or open Settings).
- Tap your profile card at the top → My Account.
- Scroll to Danger Zone → tap Delete Account.
- Read the confirmation dialog, then type DELETE to confirm.
- Tap Delete Account again. The app signs you out and returns to the login screen.
The deletion completes immediately. There is no email confirmation step — once you confirm in the app, your account is gone.
Option 2 — Email request
If you cannot access the app (for example, you uninstalled it but still want your server-side data removed), email moflowapp@gmail.com from the address tied to your MoneyWise account, with the subject “Delete my MoneyWise account”.
We will verify ownership and complete the deletion within 14 days.
What gets deleted
When you delete your account, the following are permanently and irreversibly removed:
Server-side (cloud):
- Your MoneyWise authentication identity (email + linked Google / Apple Sign-In).
- All cloud-synced rows: accounts, transactions, budgets, investments, recurring rules, and category settings.
- Receipt and attachment images stored on our servers.
- Your avatar image.
- Your user preferences, including any AI provider API key you saved with cloud sync.
- Your membership in any shared family workspaces.
On your device:
- Your local session is cleared and the app is signed out.
- The local encrypted SQLite database remains on your device until you uninstall the app or clear local data — this is yours, not on our servers, and we cannot reach it. To erase local data immediately: delete the app from your phone.
Third-party links:
- Google or Apple Sign-In links to your MoneyWise account are unlinked from our side. The token your Google or Apple account holds expires naturally; you can also revoke it manually in your Google account settings or Apple ID settings.
What is retained, and for how long
- Family workspaces you owned: if you owned a shared family workspace with other members, that workspace’s data is preserved for 30 days so other members can copy out anything they need. After 30 days the family data is permanently deleted.
- Anonymized analytics events: aggregate counts of in-app actions (page views, button taps) collected before deletion remain in our analytics pipeline. These are not linked to your identity after the deletion completes — they stay only as anonymous totals.
- Nothing else. We do not retain backup copies of your transactions, balances, or AI history beyond the family-grace case above.
Active subscriptions are NOT cancelled by account deletion
Deleting your MoneyWise account does not cancel any active App Store or Google Play subscription. To stop billing:
- iPhone / iPad: open Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → MoneyWise → Cancel Subscription.
- Android: open Google Play Store → tap your profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → MoneyWise → Cancel.
Cancel your subscription before deleting your account if you want to stop billing.
